Millennials, people between the ages of 15 and 34, make up nearly half of the current vegan population. Despite being dealt a bad deal by prior generations, this generation is increasingly able to see past all the ways our society indoctrinates us to use nonhuman animals. Millennial Vegan offers support to this important group by providing tips for advocacy, strategies for communicating with unsupportive peers, advice on issues related to dating, and information on maintaining personal well-being. The movement for nonhuman animals depends on the support of millennials, and this guide will help this already aware group maximize their ability to be the best vegan advocates they can be.

Millennial Vegan Tips for Navigating Relationships Wellness and Everyday Life as a Young Animal Advocate Casey Taft Reviews

This book provides an excellent introduction to a range of issues we experience as new vegans. The focus of the book is on millennials but the information contained within is going to be helpful for everyone; whether you’re not vegan but want to understand more about veganism, a new vegan finding your way, or have been vegan for a while, this book presents an opportunity to consider a variety of relevant issues. Alongside a wide ranging discussion, of particular interest to me was the section on vegan advocacy, an area which has been discussed a great deal in relation to the mainstream animal movement, and in this book Casey Taft provides some great advice to help people advocate in line with their values.
This book came at such a good time for me. I'm on the older end of millennials but I'm recently divorced so it's like I'm starting over in some ways.

What caught my attention right off was that it's written in such a straightforward manner. I really appreciate that. I don't like advice books where the author tries to coddle you. I feel like I'm being talked down to and I hate it. This book is absolutely not like that. I felt like I was being spoken to as an equal.

Another great thing is that it covers so many topics. Every time I would think, "but what about...?" it would be coveded almost immediately after.

I also love how it continually mentions intersectionality. That's important to me and that's why I've already recommended this book to multiple vegans I know on Facebook.

I learned a lot, and I felt empowered and comforted at the same time. It's rare for that to happen for me. I'm already planning on reading it again to take more notes.

I recommend it to any vegan, absolutely. I got it in ebook format but I'm considering buying a hard copy to share with my family. I think it'll help them understand me and where I'm coming from.
Millennial Vegan has, so far, helped me realize the challenges I have had and will continue to have. I have done mistakes before, especially on dealing with non-vegan friends and loved ones. Reading this has struck me and opened my eyes that I had been doing it all wrong. It's very helpful, easy to comprehend and gives me the courage to speak out about and make people lean towards veganism in the most effective manner.
“Millennials,” not unlike vegans, are often maligned and belittled for reasons that don’t seem to be based on much evidence. Young people may be our best chance at seeing a vegan world actually come to fruition. And yet, it’s often difficult to maneuver the shift to veganism for the young in our current pre-vegan world, and in particular for those still living under their parents’ roof. This is even more problematic when the family does not support their veganism.

In this brief guide, Dr. Casey Taft touches on several points of concern for younger folks who wish to live a vegan lifestyle, or for those who are already vegan and struggling with practical issues that may arise. In his signature supportive and positive style, Taft shines a light on many trouble spots that young vegans are likely to come upon, including, among others

~Tips for Communicating with Others about Veganism
~Psychological Abuse and Bullying
~Vegan Dating
~Misanthropy and Veganism
~Eating Disorders and Veganism
~Shopping Suggestions
~Coping with Anger

A couple of chapters deal with topics covered in Casey’s first vegan-themed book, Motivational Methods for Vegan Advocacy A Clinical Psychology Perspective, namely, “Assertive Communication” and “Trauma in Animal Advocacy.”

Taft’s expertise is in the field of psychology, communication, domestic violence, and trauma therapy. Although touched upon in the book, for more detail on shopping, diet, and nutrition, young readers will need to explore other books, sites, and so on, and these resources are plentiful.

While there are quite a few books, websites, social media sites, etc. that are focused on helping people learn about being vegan, I’m not aware of anything, in particular, that is written for the Millennial generation. This book fills that gap nicely and I hope it is helpful in assisting many young people to become and remain thriving vegans for life!
This is such a necessary book. We live in a very nonvegan world so knowing how to navigate that world is critical. There are many aspects of this text I really appreciated. New and young vegans often don't know how to respond to common objections so wonderful responses to these objections are included. The book is packed full of citations and reveals a strong appreciation for science. I greatly valued the way in which the definition of veganism was illuminated with avenues for how to best protect it. Also, the book does a great job teaching the importance of assertive communication and how we can protect ourselves from the resistance to veganism from family, friends, and society at large. It delves into how to deal with anger we might feel living vegan in such a violent, nonvegan world and how to make sense of it all. Mr. Taft also cautions against misanthropic thinking and provides great insight into how to effectively advocate for the earthlings with whom we share this planet. I really liked the way Mr. Taft broached the discussion of veganism and masculinity. On a very practical level, the book also includes shopping suggestions.

I would recommend this book to anyone, not just youth, because it provides insights for how other people might be experiencing their vegan life differently from us.
The "Millennial Vegan Tips for Navigating Relationships, Wellness, and Everyday Life as a Young Animal Advocate" book is enlightening, and soothed my soul. I loved the calming and easy to read detailed as well as informative writing. I couldn't put the book down.
