A SWEEPING WESTERN HISTORICAL ROMANCE BY NYT BESTSELLING AUTHOR NICOLE JORDAN; A ROCKY MOUNTAIN BRIDE BOOK
A CONVENIENT BRIDE
Burdened by family debts, Heather Ashford has no choice but to exchange her dreams of romance and accept the proposal of ruggedly handsome cattle baron Sloan McCord. However the widowed rancher is more than she bargains for. Tormented by a deep sorrow, Sloan keeps his heart well guarded, even as he sets her body on fire night after night. But each time Heather gazes into his ice blue eyes, she realizes she wants more from this man than his passion--she wants his love.
AN IRRESISTIBLE GROOM
But Sloan McCord has vowed never to love again. Although his infant daughter needs a mother, he doesn't want--or need--a wife. He is surprised that Heather, an elegant citybred lady, turns his remote Colorado ranch house into a home, and tenderly cares for his child. She is beginning to haunt his thoughts by day and steal his breath by night--and this he cannot have if he is to keep a safe distance. Does his fierce bride of convenience have the strength to heal his broken heart--before he breaks hers?

Maybe three and a half stars. I did like this book. It kept me interested, although there was a lot about it that I resented. As with most reviews, I agree. The hero was not too likeable. It was bordering on emotional abuse and I agree, very annoying the way he grieved his dead wife through 90% of the book. The heroine was spineless and it took her 90% of the book before she even partially stood up to him, with one slap. "The Savage" was similar also. Another tortured, very bitter, angry hero who was mean to the heroine through most of the book, although I did like "The Savage" a bit more than this. Not too sure who was worse, the pathetic, spineless heroine or the angry, bitter hero, yet the story was interesting and kept you going. What I found hard to believe was how, a pampered, upper middle-class young lady could adapt to hard work on a ranch. She was an amazing cook? Come on! Washed dishes and laundry and toiled! What? That was a bit much. It would have been much more believable if the heroine was from a poor familiy with no prospects as I kept waiting for her to finally demand a housekeeper and she never did! All this aside, I would probably read it again. It made me want to read more of Ms. Jordan's older books from this time period. It was a bit ahead of it's time with the steamy love scenes, as was The Savage but this even more so, reminding me a bit of Nan Ryan and her very steamy Westerns.Product details

THE HEART BREAKER Rocky Mountain Brides Book 2 edition by Nicole Jordan Romance eBooks Reviews
What a self centered man Sloan was ( the hero??). I felt so sorry for Heather I wanted to throttle him. I thought the "live/sex" scenes in this story were more like spousal abuse and how Sloan could repeatedly do this to his wife and her stay with him,is beyond me.3 stars
Favorite scene with Heather-
This was a short scene, but the scene where Heather has a little chat with Sloan's political opponent. It really showed Heather's backbone.
Favorite scene with Sloan-
Drunk at the saloon. Della has to help him realize he loves Heather.
Together-
A drunken Sloan insulting Heather by offering to pay for sex after telling her she still owes him. A powerful, heartwrenching scene.
What did you like about Heather-
Her love for Janna. Her strength and courage.
What didn't you like about Heather-
I felt that Heather flip-flopped. She told Sloan not to touch her ever again, and then allowed him to have sex with her. That made her weak. She left Sloan and Janna, eventhough Sloan treated her cruelly.
What did you like about Sloan-
His love for Janna. His political views. People liked him naturally. He didn't have to force them to like him and vote for him.
What didn't you like about Sloan-
I understand that Sloan was grieving, but he had no right to treat Heather the way he did.
If I had to cast Sloan, I'd cast Kiefer Sutherland.
If I had to cast Heather, I'd cast Charlize Theron.

I wish I had noticed the review by another customer that said" Too much sex and too little story that was too predictable." Not only that but there was so much emotional abuse by the "hero" that it made it really hard to get through. At one point, she stood up to him and told him she wouldn't be treated like a door mat and then put up with much worse. Sorry this one didn't do it for me. Just sorry I paid for it, but I'm still deleting it right after this review.
I'm a BIG fan of Nicole Jordan as of this year I now have all of her Books thanks to my Mom because she got most of them for Christmas 2014 every time I read them it makes me think of her on September 6th 2016 me, Mom, and Dad, and Mom's Dog Trixy were in a deadly crash and me and Trixy are the only survivors so I make sure my books stay in great condition.
Hero was psychologically cruel and abusive for too long. Heroine was a pushover and it was hard to believe that she would be seduced into having sex so easily when the hero was such a jerk. I enjoy a good steamy sex scene when it serves a purpose in the plot but there were too many repetitive sex scenes and I kept waiting for the heroine to say "no, you're not getting any until you can treat me with kindness and respect." Every time she gave in and was seduced immediately was so frustrating to me.The writing was too simplistic and not very engaging.
Sloan is heart broken over his wife's death. He feels responsible and will never forgive himself, so can not let himself love another woman. However he needs someone to help take care of his half breed daugther as well as keep house. I agreed that he was a jerk to Heather a most of times as he just does not know how to deal with his feelings, and feels he is betraying his first wife. You gotta feel for the guy when he finally breaks down and cries for his dead wife. Heather is the perfect lady who turns into a wild cat in bed. Love is not always roses, so I guess as in most reviews you just have to decide whether you want to chance it for yourself. You will either really love this book, or you will really hate this book because of the way he is. If you can look past him being a jerk because he feels like he is betraying his dead wife you may like the ending and feel like it was not a waste of time. He has his times where he is not bad, but he will not let himself give in to feelings. If you are just one of those people who want the hero to be perfect all the time. It is not for you.
I love the extreme sex and inappropriate words, which other people say they don't like. Sloan leans towards being a dom. It makes the book hot. Yet again another thing people have to decide if they want to read it or not because of that. I also agreed with one reviewer if you think about it they can be pretty funny or pretty corny, but I love them anyway.
Most of Nicole Jordan's books have a lot of sex. If that's not for you then her books are not for you. She is one of my favorites.
I also wish she had published the third book in this series. The one about Wolf. Sloan's first wife's half brother. The first book is The Outlaw about Sloan's brother Jake. Also a good book. The Outlaw is the first I read that started me reading her books.
